As Head Kaiako at Waikanae Beach Kids, I bring over 24 years of experience in early childhood education, and my teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every tamaiti has a unique story to tell. Before we can nurture a child's hopes, dreams, and potential, we must first know who they are – their whakapapa, their identity, the people who love them, and the places where they feel they belong. I believe these connections are the foundation of learning, and it is through strong relationships with tamariki and their whānau that we are able to create an environment where every child feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.

I see learning as a journey of discovery, led by the curiosity of the child. Rather than teaching curiosity, I believe in following it. My role is to listen deeply, notice the sparks of wonder – tirohia ngā korakora o te mīharo! and provide meaningful opportunities that allow tamariki to explore, question, create, and make sense of their world in ways that are authentic to them. Every child brings their own strengths, interests, and ways of knowing, and I feel privileged to walk alongside them as they grow in confidence, capability, and a strong sense of self.

I am deeply passionate about Te Tiriti o Waitangi and believe in celebrating the many stories, cultures, and identities that together make us the people of Aotearoa. I strive to create learning environments where te ao Māori is lived authentically each day, where every culture is honoured, and where tamariki develop a genuine appreciation for the rich histories, languages, traditions, and stories that shape our nation. I believe that when children grow with a strong sense of identity and an understanding of the diverse identities of others, they develop the empathy, confidence, and respect to flourish in an increasingly connected world.

As a heart-led kaiako and a determined leader, I am passionate about creating a culture where manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and ako are woven through our fabric. I believe learning flourishes when children, whānau, and kaiako walk alongside one another as partners, celebrating each success, embracing each challenge, and honouring the knowledge that every person brings to our learning community.

It is an absolute privilege to lead a team of passionate educators who share this vision, and together we strive to create a place where every tamaiti is celebrated for exactly who they are. My hope is that every child who leaves Waikanae Beach Kids does so with a deep sense of belonging, confidence in who they are, and the courage to continue following their own curiosity throughout life.

Kia Ora, my name is Teesha. I am the nursery teacher here at Waikanae Beach Kids and work Monday- Friday. I am passionate about creating and maintaining positive, reciprocal realtionships with whanau and tamariki where they develop a sense of belonging through open communication. I am a happy and laid back person which is why I enjoy providing a learning environment that reflects this. I look foward to meeting you soon.

Kia Ora, my names Jaye. I qualified as an ECE teacher in 2007. I work 4 days a week ( Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). I am passionate about supporting children with their social and emotional development. I also love watching children develop relationships.

Hi, my name is Ana and I work full time at Waikanae Beach Kids. I have experience teaching in the junior area of primary school as well as many years in Early Childhood. I am most passionate about learning alongside the 3-5 year age group. I love being a part of tamariki growing into creative, confident and capable learners with their own unique spark!!

Kia ora! I'm Chelsea, and I'm a proud mum to two teenage boys, aged 17 and 18. I have been teaching for over 15 years across a variety of educational settings, including primary education, early childhood education, and home-based learning.

I am a passionate, enthusiastic teacher who genuinely loves what I do. There is nothing more rewarding than watching children grow in confidence, discover their strengths, and thrive as individuals. I believe every child has incredible potential, and I feel privileged to be part of their learning journey.

My teaching philosophy centres around developing the dispositions that support lifelong success. I believe that by nurturing confidence, resilience, curiosity, perseverance, and a love of learning, we empower children to become capable, independent learners who are ready to embrace new challenges. My goal is to create a warm, supportive environment where every child feels valued, encouraged, and confident to explore, take risks, and be their authentic self.
